A discovery flight includes 30 minutes of ground briefing followed by 30 minutes of flying. In the ground you will learn the fundamentals needed to successfully maneuver the helicopter down the beach. Basic knowledge about the different flight controls, their inputs and safety standards are fundamental to operate a helicopter. By the end of the ground you will be endorsed with a never expiring endorsement marking the first step in your aviation career.
Throughout the flight, your instructor will make you familiar with one control input at a time, adding all of them together towards the end of the lesson, giving you the chance to fly the helicopter without any assistance! The lesson ends with your first impression of how difficult it is to hover a helicopter in one spot.
Which License do I start with
Every pilot journey, no matter if private or professional, starts with the private piloting license, after which you are licensed to fly the helicopter with family and friends, wherever and whenever you want, without an instructor on board.
If you decide to pursue a professional career, the next step would be an instrument rating or your commercial license, allowing you to fly in more difficult weather conditions and being able to get compensated for the flying you do. The final step to advance your skills is to become a flight instructor and teach what you once learned.
